MEET THE: VIce president of POLITICAL AFFAIRS
David Seaton
David Seaton is a junior at Tufts University studying Political Science and Economics. Originally from West Newbury, Massachusetts, where he grew up on a working farm, David first became involved in politics through local advocacy efforts focused on environmental justice and expanding youth voter access in his hometown. At Tufts, he has served as President of the Tufts University College Democrats, leading campus organizing efforts including canvassing, protests, voter outreach, and political engagement initiatives.
David became involved with College Democrats of America during the 2024 Democratic National Convention, where he served as a delegate for Massachusetts’ Sixth Congressional District. He first served as Northeast Regional Director, organizing dorm storming operations and canvassing trips to New Hampshire and Maine during the 2024 presidential election, before later serving as Deputy Programs Director, where he helped coordinate planning and stakeholder outreach for the 2026 CDA National Convention in Washington, D.C.. Currently serving as Vice President of Political Affairs, David oversees CDA’s endorsement process, working with state federations and chapters to support progressive Democratic candidates who reflect the priorities of college students. He has also overseen convention travel grants and helped launch CDA’s first nationwide chapter grant program.
Beyond his organizing work, David has gained extensive experience in government, policy, and civic education. He interned in the US Senate for Senator Ed Markey, where he handled constituent casework and conducted policy research, and served as an intern for Somerville Mayor Jake Wilson, assisting with communications strategy and municipal policy development. David is also a Carnegie Fellow with the Institute for Citizens and Scholars and Co-Director of “Do You Know What You Know?”, an initiative focused on combating misinformation and strengthening media literacy among students. Across all of his work, David is committed to amplifying the voices of communities that have historically been left out of politics and fighting for a Democratic Party and political system where young people are front and center.
