MEET THE Communications Director

Gia Iyer

A woman with curly hair wearing glasses, a black shirt, and a silver necklace with an eye pendant, posing against a plain background.

Gia Iyer is a senior at George Washington University double majoring in International Affairs and International Business, with a concentration in International Development and minors in Political Science and Economics. She interned for the NJ State Assembly in high school, after which she joined College Democrats of America as a Communications Associate. Eventually, she became the Deputy Communications Director before being elected to her position in 2024. In 2026, she was re-appointed as the Communications Director for the next term. Outside of organizing, Gia is the director of the communications team for one of GWU’s International Affairs journals and is a member of her school’s parliamentary debate team.

After experiencing the bias and prejudice that follows misinformation firsthand, Gia strongly advocates for increasing civil education. As such, she plans to use her platform at College Democrats of America to fight incendiary messaging and promote empathy in politics. In the eventual future, she would like to take the Foreign Service Officer Test and work for the US Department of State as a public diplomacy officer.
