Latest Press Statement: COLLEGE DEMOCRATS ADDRESS TRUMP ADMINISTRATION'S ESCALATION WITH IRAN'S NUCLEAR INFRASTRUCTURE
WASHINGTON, D.C. - June 21st, 2025 - Trump promised to end forever wars. Instead, he's launching a new one without Congress and without a plan.
In 2018, he pulled the U.S. out of the Iran nuclear deal, which had successfully limited Iran's nuclear program and avoided conflict. Now, as president again, he's backing Israeli airstrikes and has approved U.S. military action against Iran. That's not diplomacy. That's dangerous.
Young people don't want more endless wars. We want peace, accountability, and smart leadership. Trump's reckless moves put all of that at risk. College Democrats of America will not stand by as Trump revives the machinery of endless war and empire. We demand a return to diplomacy and a future free from reckless militarism.

THE COLLEGE DEMOCRATS OF NEW YORK'S RESPONSE TO THE DETAINMENT OF BRAD LANDER
NEW YORK, NY - June 17th, 2025 - Today, New Yorkers watched as masked men abducted a high-profile political candidate and public official in the name of "freedom".
Brad Lander, New York City Comptroller and Mayoral Candidate, was taken by ICE agents while escorting a migrant out of an immigration courthouse.
Due process is the pillar of a free society, and the attacks against our legal system will reverberate across the country for years to come.
The College Democrats of New York condemn this blatant abuse of power by ICE under the Trump Administration. The current use of federal immigration enforcement raises grave concerns about the erosion of civil liberties and due process.

COLLEGE DEMOCRATS RESPOND TO TRAGIC LOSS OF REP. HORTMAN AND ATTACK ON SEN. HOFFMAN
WASHINGTON, D.C. - June 17th, 2025 - The College Democrats of America is devastated to hear about the politically motivated shootings of Minnesota Senator John Hoffman and his wife, as well as Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband. Representative Hortman and her husband, Mark, were tragically killed.
While we thoroughly commend the work of Minnesota state law enforcement for their apprehension of Vance Boelter following this heinous crime, The United States of America is no home for political violence. Our thoughts, prayers, and hearts are with the family and friends of the Hortmans and Hoffmans. However, thoughts and prayers are not enough as College Students in America, we must always signal that our country is a democracy.

COLLEGE DEMOCRATS OF AMERICA: TRAGIC SHOOTING AT FLORIDA STATE UNIVERSITY
WASHINGTON, D.C.- April 23rd, 2025 - Our nation witnessed yet another tragedy: at least two people were killed and six others injured in a shooting at Florida State University. We mourn the lives lost, stand in solidarity with the injured, and grieve with the entire FSU community. We are devastated but we are not shocked. Once again, young people were gunned down in a place meant for learning, growth, and hope. Once again, we are writing a statement of heartbreak instead of celebrating students' achievements. And once again, Congress and state legislatures refuse to act. Even in the aftermath of this tragedy, the Florida Senate is preparing to vote on lowering the legal age to purchase a firearm from 21 to 18, reversing a key protection passed after the Parkland shooting. Rather than learning from the past, our leaders are paving the way for more pain, more funerals, and more stolen futures….

CDA DENOUNCE MASS VISA REVOCATIONS AS AUTHORITARIAN CENSORSHIP DISGUISED AS SECURITY
WASHINGTON, D.C. - April 11th, 2025 - The College Democrats of America unequivocally condemn the growing wave of student visa revocations under the Trump administration as an alarming, authoritarian overreach aimed at silencing political dissent and undermining civil liberties on U.S. campuses. According to recent reports, the Department of Homeland Security has formed a dedicated task force to scour the social media accounts of over 1.5 million international students studying in the United States. This mass surveillance operation-conducted with opaque criteria and without meaningful oversight, has already resulted in a spike in visa revocations. Students are being deported not for crimes or credible threats, but for engaging in constitutionally protected speech, including peaceful protest and political expression…

COLLEGE DEMOCRATS OF AMERICA TO ELON MUSK: YOUR MONEY CAN’T BUY OUR FUTURE
WASHINGTON, D.C. - April 4th, 2025 - This week, Elon Musk's PAC funneled $1 million to the chair of the Wisconsin Federation of Young Republicans. At a time when young people across the country are organizing for their futures, this kind of billionaire cash grab is everything that's wrong with our political system. It's a cynical attempt to turn youth leadership into a commodity. We're here to say, loud and clear: College Democrats are not for sale. While our counterparts are taking checks from Silicon Valley, College Democrats of Wisconsin are registering voters, organizing campus rallies, and turning out the youth vote in record numbers. Our commitment is to the people we serve-not to private donors seeking influence.

COLLEGE DEMOCRATS CALL FOR ACTION AFTER TRAGIC SHOOTING AT APALACHEE HIGH SCHOOL
WASHINGTON, D.C.- March 7th, 2025 - The House of Representatives decision to censure Representative Al Green for protesting during Donald Trump's speech is a blatant attempt to silence dissent and deflect from the real issue at hand: Trump's cruel and damaging policies. This censure is political theater, designed to intimidate those who refuse to stay silent in the face of injustice. The real outrage should be directed at the policies that sparked Representative Green's protest in the first place- Medicaid cuts that will disproportionately harm low-income families, seniors, and people with disabilities.

CDA AND THE COLLEGE DEMOCRATS OF NEW JERSEY CALL ON SENATOR ROBERT MENENDEZ TO RESIGN FROM THE SENATE
WASHINGTON D.C. - July 17th, 2024 - In the wake of Senator Menendez’s recent conviction, College Democrats of America and The College Democrats of New Jersey urge Senator Robert Menendez to resign from the Senate. If Senator Menendez refuses to resign, the Senate should swiftly expel him. Senator Menendez’s conviction for sixteen corruption-related charges proves that he has betrayed his oath of office, and we believe it is his moral duty to let someone who truly represents his constituents take over.

CDA REAFFIRM THEIR COMMITMENT TO THE EVENTUAL OFFICIAL DEMOCRATIC PRESIDENTIAL NOMINATION
WASHINGTON D.C. - July 8th, 2024 - As College Democrats, we serve as grassroots organizers of the democratic cause and are those most impacted by the results of the upcoming election. We spend innumerable hours, going door to door to speak with voters as well as organizing our peers who overwhelmingly vote blue. Additionally, looming effects of climate change, increasing income inequality, rising costs of home ownership, record levels of polarization, growing distrust in our democratic system, and unwavering global injustice are bound to debilitate our lives for the coming decades if we fail to secure the Presidency in November.

RESPONSE TO NY-16 CONGRESSIONAL PRIMARY ELECTION RESULTS
WASHINGTON D.C. - June 28th, 2024 - The College Democrats of America, Gen-Z for Change, and the Sunrise Movement issued the following statement regarding the NY-16 Congressional primary election:
In an election where it was the many vs. the money, we proudly supported Jamaal Bowman, a people-powered candidate and champion of the values of young Americans across the country. In the halls of Congress, Bowman has been a staunch advocate for progressive policies such as Medicare for All and the Green New Deal for Public Schools. As a former educator and public school principal, Congressman Bowman has been well aware of the challenges impacting young Americans and continues to be an ardent proponent of our generation’s best interests, even if it brings him into the crosshairs of moneyed interests.

Such protests are a direct response to the UCs’ violent suppression of their faculty and students peacefully protesting for a more just international community in each of their nine undergraduate campuses; students armed with nothing more than signs, chants and moral clarity were met with pepper spray, batons and riot shields.

COLLEGE DEMOCRATS OF AMERICA CONDEMN SUPREME COURT RULING ALLOWING THE SALE OF BUMP STOCKS
WASHINGTON D.C. - June 15th, 2024 - Due to twice-impeached and convicted former President Donald Trump fulfilling his promise to appoint extreme conservatives to the court, the Supreme Court struck down a ban on bump stocks. Every day, more than 120 people are killed by guns, and allowing bump stocks to remain easily accessible further exacerbates this problem. As College Democrats we've experienced first hand the horrors of our nation’s gun violence epidemic, ducking and covering amidst both during drills and the presence of active shooters.

COLLEGE DEMOCRATS OF AMERICA STANDS IN SOLIDARITY WITH PROTESTS FOR PEACE AT COLLEGE CAMPUSES
WASHINGTON D.C. - April 30, 2024 - This past week, we witnessed heroic actions on the part of students around the country to protest and sit in for an end to the war in Palestine and the release of the hostages. Since the beginning of this conflict, College Democrats and students from every walk of life have had the moral clarity to see this war for what it is: destructive, genocidal, and unjust.

CDA APPLAUD PRESIDENT BIDEN’S RECENT ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTIONS IN THE WESTERN ARCTIC
WASHINGTON D.C. - April 21, 2024 - The College Democrats of America applaud President Biden’s recent announcement of protecting more than 13 million acres of lands in the Western Arctic from drilling. The announcement, made last week, bans fossil fuel drilling on nearly half of the Alaskan National Petroleum Reserve and moves to block the Trump administration’s Ambler Road in the Alaskan wilderness, a project that would have facilitated the development of at least four large-scale mines and would have perpetuated the harmful impacts of drilling.

WASHINGTON D.C. - April 8th, 2024 - Recently, the House passed H.R. 7521, a piece of legislation that leaves TikTok’s future in the United States uncertain. The College Democrats of America are calling on the Senate to overwhelmingly reject this House resolution.

COLLEGE DEMOCRATS OF AMERICA CALL FOR HOUSE REPUBLICANS TO PASS BIPARTISAN BORDER REFORM IMMEDIATELY
WASHINGTON D.C. - March 8th, 2024 - The College Democrats of America are calling on House Republicans to pass the Bipartisan Senate National Security Agreement immediately to secure our southern border, expand executive powers, and support overall immigration.
The House Republicans have chosen politics over people—all at the expense of the American people. This is not new for the Republican party. Last month, Governor Abbott clearly defied not only the United States Supreme Court but the people of Texas by refusing to remove unethical razor wire at the border wall and provide adequate aid for migrants. Frustratingly, the Governor refused to allow state medical assistance for migrants resulting in the death of a woman and two children…

COLLEGE DEMOCRATS OF AMERICA CALL FOR INQUIRY ON “INTERFERENCE” IN NEW JERSEY SENATE ENDORSEMENT
WASHINGTON D.C. - January 17th, 2024 - The College Democrats of America are deeply disturbed by the intimidation tactics employed by a major candidate and someone working for both the candidate and the state party to stall the endorsement of Andy Kim in the New Jersey Senate Democratic Primary. We stand in solidarity with the brave members of the New Jersey College Democrats of America who were subjected to these tactics and commend their courage in speaking out against such egregious behavior. As young leaders, we believe that our political discourse must rise above petty tactics and must be centered on the needs of the people we serve. We must be better than this if we hope to inspire a new generation of voters and build a more just and equitable society…
