MEET THE: National President

Sohali Vaddula

A woman with long brown hair and a friendly expression standing in front of the U.S. Capitol building in Washington, D.C.

Sohali Vaddula is a junior at Brown University studying International & Public Affairs. Her advocacy journey began in high school, where she served as a student representative on her school board, advocating for student interests at the administrative level. At the same time, she was Communications Director for the High School Democrats of America before transitioning to the same role in the College Democrats, where she helped double the organization’s digital media presence, significantly boosting membership engagement nationwide.

Since then, Sohali has remained deeply involved in Democratic politics. She served on the Communications Committee during the 2024 Democratic National Convention and worked as a youth organizer for Beto O’Rourke’s 2022 gubernatorial campaign in Texas. In Spring 2024, she gained hands-on experience in legislative affairs and political communications as a congressional intern in the office of U.S. Senator Tina Smith.

Beyond her campaign and legislative work, Sohali is a passionate advocate for youth engagement in the political process. As National President of The College Democrats of America, she represents young Democrats on the Democratic National Committee and the Texas Democratic Party’s Executive Committee, working to amplify Gen - Z voices within the party. She has appeared on CNN, NewsNation, and C-SPAN, discussing the power of young voters and campus activism in the 2024 election. Committed to fostering dialogue across political divides, she strives to ensure that young Americans’ voices are heard, valued, and actively shaping the future of Democratic politics and beyond.

After graduating, Sohali hopes to pursue a legal education to fight for women’s reproductive rights in her home state of Texas, the reason she got involved in Democratic politics to begin with.
